Psalm 105:1-2,3-4,6-7, 8-9
R. (8a) The Lord remembers His Covenant forever.
Alleluia.
Give thanks to the LORD, invoke His Name;
make known among the nations His Deeds.
Sing to Him, sing His Praise,
proclaim all His Wondrous Deeds.
R. The Lord remembers His Covenant Forever.
Alleluia.
Glory in His Holy Name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
Look to the LORD in His Strength;
seek to serve Him constantly.
R. The Lord remembers His Covenant forever.
Alleluia.
You descendants of Abraham, His servants,
sons of Jacob, His Chosen Ones!
He, the LORD, is our God;
throughout the earth
His judgments prevail.
R. The Lord remembers
His Covenant forever.
Alleluia.
He remembers forever His Covenant
which He made binding for a thousand generations—
Which He entered into with Abraham
and by His Oath to Isaac.
R. The Lord remembers His Covenant forever.
Alleluia.
Going with the angels to meet Jesus!
James 1:1-15
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion:
Greetings.
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds
For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, Who gives generously
to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
6 But let Him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, 10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
For when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and He Himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth
death.
The Dispersion
The Diaspora, the dispersion of the Jewish population throughout the Empire, of major Jewish communities in most of the large cities of the Empire, all the way from the Persian Gulf on the east to Spain on the west.
Jesus said
John 7:32-36
Jesus had said was,
“I shall be with you a little longer, and then I go to Him Who sent me;
you will seek Me and you will not find Me; where I am you cannot come.”
These words utterly mystify and amaze His audience. They did not realize Jesus was speaking of His return to His Father in Heaven.
Some of them asked, “Where does this Man intend to go
that we shall not find Him?
Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks
and teach the Greeks?”
If you were with Titus, assumed to be one of the 72 disciples, you would be in Crete.
The people who were part of the pilgrimage from Crete heard Jesus was having trouble within the Jerusalem Temple and Herod. They sought Him to come back with them to live, teach and preach. Titus returned to Crete and lived to be very old, getting to the 2nd Century AD.
Timothy held Paul up and lived to the 2nd Century. John the Beloved Disciple lived to be so old, many Church histories record he lived beyond the Emperors of Rome seeking his confinement on Patmos and went back to Ephesus. Bishops of the Church record his ideas on Scripture, culture, belief and endurance. Joy.
James, the brother of Jesus, like Lazarus and John, record in history two different deaths. 62 AD stoned to death on the order of High Priest Ananus ben Ananus. This could be Annas, history loves to change the spelling. Ben indicates the son of. James second recorded death is in 69 AD, by being thrown off the pinnacle of the Temple by scribes and Pharisees. This wasn't enough, and, then, James was clubbed to death.
John, the Beloved Disciple, went out two by two to villages ahead of Jesus. He and his brother James, the Less, experienced the Transfiguration. Getting a colt for Jesus to have for Palm Sunday. And James, died first of the Disciples and very quickly. James evidently was a favorite of Jesus' own heart.
Trials of various kinds
Let steadfastness
have its full effect,
that you may be perfect and complete,
lacking in nothing.
And Jesus gave John His Mother Mary. Two by two.
Count it all joy, my brothers
Let him ask God, Who gives generously to all without reproach,
and it will be given
Jesus Ascension, bringing in the Prophets
Alive from Good Friday
and the Rich in his humiliation,
because like a flower of the grass
he will pass away.
11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass;
its flower falls
and its beauty
Let the lowly brother boast in his Exaltation
So also
will the rich man
fade away in the midst of
his pursuits !
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial
For when he has stood the test
he will receive the crown of life,
which God has Promised
to those
who love Him.
