Exodus 19:3-6, 16-20
Exodus 20:18-21
†
Moses went up to God.
The Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My Voice and keep My Covenant,
you shall be My treasured possession among all peoples,
for all the earth is mine.
You shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’
These are the Words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
16 On the morning of the third day
There were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled.
Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their stand at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly. 19 And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered Him in thunder.
The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
Exodus 20:18-21
18 Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off 19 and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.”
Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.” 21 The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
This is Pentecost, we study events that are like The Ascension.
One of the many reasons people are spun into an inward confusion over The Ascension, if God was doing what is in Heaven, why did Jesus disappear? Does this indicate Jesus was a ghost, when He said, 'Don't touch me,' then later ate a fish? This isn't what God was doing. Lazarus lived a very long time after he came back from 3 days of being dead. And the widow of Nain did indeed receiver her son back from the dead. A Great Crowd witnessed the son rise from the dead.
How much of The Scriptures remain the same?
The Exodus is circa 12th Century BC. The Psalms are 1000 BC
Psalm 18:13-15
The Lord
also
thundered in the Heavens,
and
the Most High uttered His Voice,
hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And He sent out His arrows and scattered them;
He flashed forth lightnings and routed them.
15 Then the channels of the sea were seen,
and
the foundations of the world were laid bare
at Your rebuke, O Lord
Ezekiel 1:13, 14 is 500 BC
As for the likeness of the living creatures,
their appearance was like burning coals of fire,
like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures.
14 And the living creatures darted to and fro,
like the appearance of a
flash of lightning.
Matthew 24:27
The Ascension in reverse, The Second Coming of Christ Jesus
For as the lightning
comes from the east and shines as far as the west,
so will be the coming
of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:27 40 A.D
For as the lightning
comes from the east
and shines as far as the west,
so will be
the coming of the Son of Man.
My Grandmother Anita's passing in 1991
was during the most unusual and spectacular
Lightning Storm
it was the Headline the next morning.
In The Dallas Morning News.
Revelation 11:19
Then God's Temple in Heaven was opened,
and
the Ark of His Covenant was seen within His Temple.
There were flashes of lightning,
rumblings,
peals of thunder,
an earthquake, and heavy hail.
Revelation 16:18
And there were flashes of lightning,
rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake
such as there had never been since man was on the earth,
so great was that earthquake.
What about the thick cloud mentioned?
1 Kings 8: 10-17
10 And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
12 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that He would dwell
in thick darkness.
13 I have indeed built You an Exalted House,
a place for You to dwell in forever.”
14 Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood. 15 And he said,
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
Who with His Hand has fulfilled
what He promised with his mouth to David my father, saying, 16 ‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a House,
that My Name might be there.
But I chose David to be over My people Israel.’
17 Now it was in the heart of David
my father
to build a House
for the Name of the Lord,
the God of Israel
1 Timothy 3:16
Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:
He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up
in
Glory.
Acts 1:9
And when He had said these things,
as they were looking on,
He was lifted up,
and a cloud took Him
out of their sight.
Holy Father,
keep them
in Your Name,
which You have given Me,
that
they may be One,
even as We are One.
