Moses, where is he in Italy? Obviously, the statue. Not in the Vatican. The Moses statue by Michelangelo is part of Pope Julius II's tomb. In St. Paul in Chains Basilica Outside the Walls. Why not the Vatican? Well, it's grade B. Michelangelo obviously made a mistake to put horns on Moses. No, I'm teasing.
The horns likeliest explanation is Michelangelo relied on Jerome's vulgate translation of the Old Testament. The “rays of light” “karan ohr” were seen surrounding Moses' face after his meeting with God, on Mt. Sinai, were expressed as horns. Some people believe Jerome's intention was to express a metaphor for the glory of God reflected from Moses's face. The mistake in translation is possible because the word "keren" in the Hebrew language can mean either “ray” or "horn."
I've always liked this Jesus painting. The look upon Jesus' face is like Moses earnestly trying to move Pharaoh's heart for the Lambs of God to have Freedom.
Joshua 5:9a, 10-12
The LORD said to Joshua,
“Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.”
While the Israelites were encamped at Gilgal
on the plains of Jericho
They celebrated the Passover
on the evening of the fourteenth of the month.
On the day after the Passover,
they ate of the produce of the land
In the form of unleavened cakes and parched grain.
On that same day after the Passover,
on which they ate of the produce of the land, the manna ceased.
No longer was there manna for the Israelites,
who that year ate of the yield ofthe land of Canaan.
Perhaps Michelangelo did not make a mistake with the horns of Moses.
Michelangelo could have been thinking of relationships. Michelangelo and Julius II added more of the trauma of Pope Julius' war-torn era. And, actually, Moses does look a little like Pope Julius II.
The Pope who rebuilt the abandoned Vatican of Emperor Constantine from 397 AD. Same Vatican Address, as St. Peter's tomb from 62 AD. Michelangelo completed his work and died in 1515 AD, 2 years after Pope Julius had died. All felt the hard life of Julius II left an incredible House of Worship with eternity-laden art. The art points to God, saying all things are possible with God. An era of opportunity for faith in God and faith in accomplishment. His efforts were led by God Himself. A Vatican proving the efforts of Jesus Christ Himself and the faith in his prophetic life.
Moses had thorns or horns in his life; his wife had a complete meltdown with Moses for daring to change their lives, saying he spoke to God. Knives drawn. Blood spilled. Then later, a pause in their marriage. Until Moses thought of his father-in-law as a Priest, with experience in Pastoral work, on a smaller scale, of course. And suddenly, Zipporah was joining the Exodus with Moses.
Moses did indeed have horns. Moses certainly didn't want to have the leprosy God allowed his hand to show to impress Pharaoh. Moses gave a hard pass on doing this again. Moses didn't enjoy parting the sea with the risk of all the people dying. Moses didn't enjoy their short worship of God for sparing them in such an incredible manner. Moses didn't enjoy their complaining. Nor did he enjoy listening as a Judge. And they threatened his life.
Jethro and Aaron and Miriam helped him. And this is today's verse.
God has a unique method of communication with all of His Children.
Abraham and the stars of the sky and grains of sand on the beach.
Abraham and the 3 angels.
The Disciples and Isaiah
Elijah and the Small Voice
Abraham, wondering if he had understood God correctly for decades.
And Joshua
knew he had heard God when God parted the Jordan River for Joshua and the Children of Israel as God had told him.
In Israel, the Blessing of the Waters, even today, has the river suddenly reverse flow and head back to the Mount Tabor. 2006. This has happened several times.

Each phase of the life of Moses, Elijah, Disciples, Children of Israel always has horns. There is always something to annoy, frustrate, or depress us in life.
And then
we remember Joshua 5:9.
A Blessing, like Manna, has been removed. And yet, life flows and works and interweaves around the Beloved of God. And to stay in His Spirit, we find our gratitude. And will remember the Blessings of Life more than the challenges.
Moses had more frustrations than we would ever hope for. And yet Moses knew Heaven upon earth.
Isaiah 40:12, 13
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the Heavens with the span of His Hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance? Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD or informed Him as His counselor?

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say.
The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation.
